The Elder Scrolls III: Tribunal Hints

How can I take care of Almalexia?

  • 1 of 8: As always, the usual Combat Tips apply here.  If you can, it helps to have prepared all your spells and effects (especially Chameleon) before you try to leave the dome, so you'll be ready when Almalexia first shows up.
  • 2 of 8: TIP: If you have a limited-time spell on you when Almalexia appears and starts giving her long speeches, press ESC to pause the game until the current paragraph is over, then unpause to let the next paragraph begin, and then pause again right away.  That should help keep your spells from wearing off before she starts attacking.
  • 3 of 8: Some other things to note -- Almalexia has a special spell called "Almalexia's Wrath" that does Absorb Health 40 points, Fire Damage 100 points, and Weakness to Fire 75%.  That fire damage can be really painful -- Dunmer have a bit of a natural advantage here, but all characters can probably use some form of Reflect, Spell Absorption, or an appropriate Resist Fire/Magicka.  (Those with the wondrous Dragonbone Cuirass artifact from the original game, of course, have nothing to worry about from fire.)
  • 4 of 8: Almalexia tends not to cast her spell unless you're running away from her -- you may be better off taking the damage from her weapon, especially if your armor and corresponding skills are in good shape.  In that case, you may only take 30 points of shock damage with each strike.
  • 5 of 8: Of course, keeping your healing going as needed is always a good idea.  Drink lots of potions if you have to.  (Or better yet, drink one super self-made Restore Health potion that restores a huge chunk of health per second for a long time.)
  • 6 of 8: The one good thing about Almalexia is that she doesn't have any Reflect spells going, so that means you don't have to avoid using your enchanted weapons.  She may resist the effects a lot of the time, but you're not going to feel the pain of Trueflame, for example, when you try to hit her with it.   (Specifically, she's immune to normal weapons, fire, poison, and paralysis, and 50% resistant to frost, magicka, and shock.)
  • 7 of 8: I found that with a lot of healing, a slight boost to my Long Blade skills (to about 110 or 120), and about 20-30% each of Reflect and Spell Absorption (using potions, spells, and The Summoner's Flamemirror Robe), I could just keep hitting Almalexia with Trueflame until she finally went down.  Yes, there's lots of healing, but Almalexia doesn't do so much damage that she'll kill you in one blow.  (Other strategies, like the Chameleon one mentioned in the general combat tips, may also make even these relatively simple steps unnecessary.)
  • 8 of 8: You may also want to cast a Soul Trap on her before you kill her -- her soul has a charge of 1500!  (Note that you'll need to have the Azura's Star item from the main Morrowind game to hold the soul in.)  You could in theory use this for a constant-effect enchantment, but typically, the quality of the item you're enchanting will be a limiting factor there, so 1500 soul points is no better than 400 for a constant-effect item.  You're probably better off making a non-constant enchantment, particularly a "cast when strikes" weapon, since more soul points means a higher maximum charge and more uses before you have to recharge (or let the item recharge itself).  You can always find or summon a Golden Saint if you want a "regular" constant-effect item, anyway.
