Voyage Hints

What do I do with the two panels containing dots and dashes?

  • 1 of 27: These two panels are part of a puzzle that is not required to complete the game.  You may work on solving them for the sake of your point total, but it is optional.
  • 2 of 27: The two panels will only make sense after you have a good grasp of the Selenite numbering system.
  • 3 of 27: Given an understanding of Selenite numbers, what do you notice about the markings on the buttons?
  • 4 of 27: Every odd number has its own button...
  • 5 of 27: ... but all of the even numbers are shown on a single button.
  • 6 of 27: This will become important, after you have enough information to figure out how to use these panels.  However, that will not come until much later in the game.
  • 7 of 27: There are actually two clues to tell you what you'll need to enter into these two panels.  One comes as a result of solving a puzzle late in your explorations of the underground caverns.
  • 8 of 27: There is another clue that is available to you without talking to anyone, or unlocking any doors.  It is here on the plateau...
  • 9 of 27: ... in the underground area.
  • 10 of 27: Using either clue, you should be able to arrive at the number 28.
  • 11 of 27: In Selenite, this would be represented as "18" (i.e., one "twenty" and eight "ones").
  • 12 of 27: And if you used the second clue (the diagram of the skull), you would know that each separate digit is linked to one of the two panels with the square buttons.
  • 13 of 27: In fact, you would even know which digit linked to which panel.
  • 14 of 27: With the blue and yellow plants at your back, the first digit ("1") is linked to the panel on your left; the second digit ("8") is linked to the panel on your right.
  • 15 of 27: Your goal is to enter those values into the panels correctly.
  • 16 of 27: The "1" is simple.  Move to the square panel on the left (with the blue and yellow plants behind you) -- the one near the blue reeds.
  • 17 of 27: Click the button with a single dot once.
  • 18 of 27: A cylinder at the back of the panel will raise ever so slightly -- one position.  This panel is set.
  • 19 of 27: Move to the other panel -- the one across the way, and NOT by the blue reeds.
  • 20 of 27: You have to enter "8" here.
  • 21 of 27: But there is no button that represents "8".
  • 22 of 27: Actually, what you REALLY need to do is to raise the cylinder 8 notches.
  • 23 of 27: But pressing any single button will not do it.
  • 24 of 27: You'll need to press several buttons...  in sequence.
  • 25 of 27: What sequence would you use?
  • 26 of 27: You'll need to enter the digits from "1" to "8"...
  • 27 of 27: ... by bouncing back and forth between the individual buttons representing the odd numbers, and the one single button with all of the even numbers on it.
