How do I solve the water control puzzle with some buttons erased?
of 10: This panel works the same as its counterpart across the plateau...
of 10: ... but with less information provide. The erased buttons make it difficult to know where all four "water" ideograms are located.
of 10: But the clue is still the same -- the four "water" ideograms just all be in separate rows and columns.
of 10: Begin with the two "water" ideograms that are still identified. (These would be in column 1, row 1 and column 3, row 2).
of 10: Those two buttons account for the "water" ideograms in columns 1 and 3. But there must be a "water" ideogram in all 4 columns.
of 10: Three of the buttons in column 2 are clearly identified.
of 10: So the "water" ideogram in that column must be the bottom button (C2R4).
of 10: And since there must be a "water" ideogram in every row (as well as every column), you have now satisfied rows 1, 2, and 4, and columns 1, 2, and 3.
of 10: Therefore, the final "water" ideogram must be in row 3 (the only row still missing a "water" ideogram) and column 4 (the only column still missing a "water" ideogram).
of 10: Hence, the four buttons needed to solve this second water control puzzle are found as follows: column 1, row 1 column 3, row 2. column 2, row 4 column 4, row 3 Again, note how each column and each row is represented exactly once.
