Voyage Hints

If I want to solve the puzzle again, can you help?

  • 1 of 4: Since working through the harmonic educator a second, third, or fourth time becomes extremely difficult, and since the puzzle randomizes each time you restart it, there is very little help that can be provided with those levels.  (Again, these higher levels are *not* needed to continue with the game, but only to raise your point total.)
  • 2 of 4: The only thing that might be of assistance would require that you either have "perfect pitch" (a musical term denoting the ability to name a particular note simply by hearing it), or have access to a keyboard nearby as you play.
  • 3 of 4: Because the right-hand panel is static, and the sounds never change, it is possible to define all 16 of the sounds associated with those buttons.  Knowing these -- in purely musical terms -- could then make it possible to solve the more advanced levels.
  • 4 of 4: With the 16 sounds on the right pre-defined, you would then start with a button on the left panel.  Listen carefully to it, and -- with the aid of a keyboard, or a friend, or some other similar means -- identify the chord being played.  (You could possibly use one of the methods described in Tips for working with the harmonic educator, although that will be more difficult.)  Once you know the chord, you can refer to your list of pre-defined chords for the right panel, and press the correct button there to complete the match.
