Solving the problem more directly

  • 1 of 8: This solution is shorter than the other, but it requires one step first -- fixing the stuck handle.
  • 2 of 8: With the handle in the "stuck" position, the only solution is the one described in The handle is stuck. However, if you can fix the handle, it will provide some additional flexibility that will shorten the task dramatically.
  • 3 of 8: Use the same grease on the handle that you used to unstick the valves on the Purifier.
  • 4 of 8: Now the handle can be moved right or left, and the yellow arrows light up to indicate the direction of flow of liquid, when the button in the middle is pressed.  You can now move liquid back and forth between the can and the cylinder, in either direction.
  • 5 of 8: With the handle fixed, move it to the right (by clicking on it).  The right yellow arrow will come on, indicating that liquid can now flow from the can to the cylinder.
  • 6 of 8: Fill the can (using the valve at the top left of the machine), and press the button in the middle to send the liquid in the can over to the cylinder.  The can will now be empty, and the cylinder will hold 4 measures of the pink liquid.
  • 7 of 8: Fill the can again, and transfer it to the cylinder.  The cylinder now contains 8 measure of liquid, and has room for 1 more.  (Can you figure it out from here?)
  • 8 of 8: Fill the can one last time, and press the button to transfer 1 measure to the cylinder.  The cylinder is now full, and the transfer stops -- leaving 3 measures of the pink liquid in the can on the left.
