Barrow Hill: Curse of the Ancient Circle Hints
What does "restoring the balance" mean, exactly?
of 22: It means putting a stop to whatever crazy supernatural stuff is going on in the Barrow Hill area tonight. It's your overall game goal.
of 22: WARNING: If you're just starting the game, many of the hints below will contain spoilers, meaning that you may find out more than you want to about the game's plot and puzzles if you read on now. It might be better to explore around and discover what you can on your own first, then come back here.
of 22: Start by reading about the area's legends.
of 22: There's a brochure called "Myths & Legends of Barrow Hill" that tells three of the main legends about how the ancient standing stones came about.
of 22: It's on the postcard rack near the office door in the service station's entrance area.
of 22: All three legends speak of some great supernatural force that's entombed or slumbering up on Barrow Hill. From what's been happening lately, there's apparently more to them than just entertainment value.
of 22: Two archaeologists have disappeared while studying the area. See if you can find out more from the notes and other possessions of Conrad Morse, the most recent one.
of 22: One of your conversations with the guy in the service station's office (see link below) will yield the fact that Morse recently drove away in his jeep.
of 22: Once you have the lantern, use it to light your way down the road going east past the service station.
of 22: At the end of the road, next to two more "force field" stones, you'll find a crashed jeep.
of 22: Morse isn't around, but you can tell it's his jeep by examining the stuff on the ground and clicking on the large ash pile to find his charred driving license.
of 22: As it turns out, that ash pile *is* Morse, or what's left of him. You'll have to pursue clues on your own.
of 22: After looking over all the stuff on the ground next to the jeep and getting the PDA, use it to find out which motel room was Morse's and what the door code is.
of 22: There are several scraps of a journal lying around his room that will shed some light on what happened and why.
of 22: In particular, check the page that's partly hidden under one of the bed's pillows.
of 22: It reveals that a certain artifact seal was broken and removed from the Barrow Hill site, which allowed the slumbering force up there to awaken.
of 22: Offerings are also mentioned, but Morse didn't figure out what they were before he got scared and tried to get away.
of 22: Your goal in this game is to make the offerings and then repair and replace the broken seal in order to restore balance.
of 22: Placing the restored seal on the "table" in the barrow chamber will finally put the evil presence there back to sleep.
of 22: You'll then get the "good" ending sequence, which includes a voiceover by Emma Harry and an FMV scene of you victoriously driving away in your car.
