Fallout: New Vegas Hints

Report to Cato when you are prepared.

  • 1 of 10: Talk to Cato about his information on the presidential visit. Note that if your Explosives skill is 50+, you can get a vertibird bomb from him.
  • 2 of 10: When the conversation is over, put on the NCR armor Cato gave you (or some other NCR outfit), then follow him as he runs all the way to the dam. He won't pause if you fall behind, so try to keep up. Or just get on the road and follow it to the dam at your own pace.
  • 3 of 10: When you come within sight of the dam's visitor center, quicksave. Even though you're in disguise, NCR rangers and their dogs can detect you as an enemy if you get very close to them. (Thankfully, NCR troopers and engineers can't, though they may still turn hostile if you have a weapon of any sort out.)
  • 4 of 10: As for your assassination plan, you'll need to prepare for it before talking to Cato again unless you're planning on sniping the president with a scoped weapon.
  • 5 of 10: If your Science or Repair skill is 50+, you can rig the nearby huge gun to shoot down the president's vertibird or to explode and kill the president during his speech.
  • 6 of 10: Another Science 50+ option is to fiddle with a certain terminal in such a way that the president's vertibird crashes after he gives his speech and tries to leave.
  • 7 of 10: An Explosives 50+ option will be available if you have a C-4 plastic explosive and a detonator.
  • 8 of 10: If your Explosives skill is too low, but you brought the C-4 and detonator anyway, there's another option available if you also brought some mines and a stealth boy.
  • 9 of 10: If you're wanting to use Cato's vertibird bomb but don't have a Speech skill of 50+, you'll need to get yourself an NCR Engineering Jumpsuit.
  • 10 of 10: Talk to Cato to finish this objective when you're through preparing.
