Half-Life 2 Hints
Section 1: Moving Along the Train Tracks (d1_canals_01)
of 14: The first thing of note that you'll come across is a wall-mounted health station. Use it to get your health back up to 100 if it's less.
of 14: Around the next corner, you'll see two mean metro cops harassing a scared couple.
of 14: Looking around the outdoor area, you'll find an open fence door and some stairs leading down to a section of train tracks.
of 14: Unfortunately, there are blue force fields keeping you from going very far down the tracks in either direction, and there's no obvious way to get to the buildings on the other side of the tracks.
of 14: After that's all over, search the first torn-up building carefully for a small stash of supplies marked with a spray-painted lambda symbol. (This is the first of many lambda-marked stashes, so learn to watch for that symbol.)
of 14: The adjacent building has some explosive barrels and a wooden pallet blocking its exit door, but all you have to do is pick up each item and toss it aside -- no need to use any bullets shooting those barrels.
of 14: Move out through that doorway cautiously, since there are a couple of cops on a raised ledge a little further down who will start shooting at you.
of 14: After raiding your very first supply crate and going through a fence door, you'll come to what looks like a dead end with a bent bit of fencing in one corner.
of 14: Once all the nearby cops are dead, go back to the stairs where one cop rolled a flaming barrel at you to find a health station near the top of the stairs and an armor battery in a dark alcove under the stairs.
of 14: Now you need to make your way further down the train tracks, but there are more blue force fields in the way.
of 14: After the vortigaunt charges up your armor (if it's low) and the lookout guy opens a large side door for you, exit through it and bash your way through a wooden pallet to move on to Section 2: Various Cop Ambushes.
