Myst V: End of Ages Hints
Where will I find the Keep in this age?
of 22: You first need to make it all the way to the third island, get into the tram station, and find a way back out.
of 22: Esher will appear to you when you're on the third island and give you a bit of hint -- you need to make your way into the sky to find the keep.
of 22: He also says that the stars and planets must be aligned, and that you need the power of the creatures.
of 22: As to the alignment, maybe he's talking about the telescopes.
of 22: You haven't used one of the four telescopes in solving any puzzle yet -- maybe you should explore until you find the correct settings.
of 22: This one isn't visible through a telescope.
of 22: You'll need to take a little ride.
of 22: Go down to the tram station on the third island, and climb into the train.
of 22: Now, push the lever inside the tram (it can move in two directions), and you'll stop at a small island in between the one you just left and the one you started at. You'll see your symbols written here. Either push the lever again to continue on to the first island or pull it to return to the third -- it doesn't really matter.
of 22: Specifically, the symbols show the lower-left telescope and the D'ni Numbers 4 and 5.
of 22: Back in the red control room, you can go to the far left control panel and set those numbers there -- about 1/5 of the way from the bottom on the left lever and 1/5 of the way from the left on the right lever. Don't forget to press the flashing green button to move the telescope.
of 22: But you still haven't used the power of the Bahro yet.
of 22: You may have seen another symbol for the slates that could help you.
of 22: It was back inside the tram station on the third island, on the wall. It's the symbol shaped like an upside-down T with one circle in the upper-left corner and another in the lower-right.
of 22: Draw this symbol on the slate, drop it, and walk away. You'll see a Bahro make the screen flash, and the stars outside will start moving very quickly.
of 22: I bet the view on the telescope will also be affected.
of 22: Stand in front of the telescope whose controls you just set and wait.
of 22: When the effect is over -- after the screen flashes white again -- something may appear on the viewscreen. (Yes, wait until it's done, and don't try to find anything while the sky is still in motion.)
of 22: You need to be zooming in as much as possible -- by clicking the right-most of the three switches above the screen.
of 22: If you've done this, you should be able to see a symbol for the Keep on a slate in the viewscreen. If not, try the puzzle again, and make sure that you have the coordinates on the telescope correct before summoning the Bahro.
of 22: As usual, once you have the symbol for the Keep, draw it on your slate, drop it, and let the Bahro take it there. The pedestal at the start of the age will then show the same symbol, and you can teleport yourself there by clicking on it.
of 22: Climb down the ladder from where you first arrive (there are ladders up and down), and you will find the Keep itself. Touch the tablet to finish the age.
