The Lady of Paranoia

  • 1 of 24: You get this quest at the same time you get "Addiction." You can do them in either order.
  • 2 of 24: Make this quest active and follow the quest arrow to find Syl.
  • 3 of 24: NOTE: If the quest arrow leads into the House of Dementia's Private Gardens area, you'll have to wait until she comes out of there since you can't get in.
  • 4 of 24: Talk to her to get the assignment of finding out whom in particular is conspiring against her now.
  • 5 of 24: She refers you to Herdir, so follow your quest arrow to find him in the House of Dementia's torture chamber.
  • 6 of 24: Introduce yourself to Herdir as the Grand Inquisitor, then ask him what you're supposed to do.
  • 7 of 24: He says to go question the residents of the Crucible district with him tagging along to help "persuade" people to talk.
  • 8 of 24: However, as your journal entry notes, starting with people close to Syl would be a better idea.
  • 9 of 24: After you're referred to Anya Herrick, follow the quest arrow to find her.
  • 10 of 24: She won't tell you anything no matter what her disposition is, so you'll have to have Herdir torture her.
  • 11 of 24: After the torture session, wait for Anya to talk to you and say that Ma'zaddha is involved in the conspiracy.
  • 12 of 24: Follow the quest arrow to Ma'zaddha and question him about the conspiracy.
  • 13 of 24: After his first torture session with Herdir, he'll say that there's no way he'll ever tell you anything unless you get some actual evidence to show that he's involved.
  • 14 of 24: For a clue as to how to obtain that evidence, talk to (and torture) some of the people in Crucible.
  • 15 of 24: Keep interrogating people until someone tells you that Ma'zaddha's been seen talking to Nelrene, Syl's guard captain, late at night.
  • 16 of 24: Eavesdrop on their meeting undetected until you get a journal entry, then talk to Ma'zaddha.
  • 17 of 24: Tell him you witnessed his meeting, and get him to agree to help you find out who's giving Nelrene her orders.
  • 18 of 24: He'll say to meet him in his house tomorrow at midnight, but you don't have to wait that long. Just wait an hour using the Rest menu, then break into Ma'zaddha's house.
  • 19 of 24: You'll find him dead on the ground floor. Approach his body to get a journal entry saying that you should look for any evidence he may have.
  • 20 of 24: Even though you know Muurine is behind the plot now, you need to go check with Nelrene first (follow the quest arrow to find her) to be sure.
  • 21 of 24: Now you can follow your quest arrow to Muurine and see what she has to say for herself.
  • 22 of 24: When you ask her about the conspiracy, she confesses.
  • 23 of 24: Report Muurine's confession to Syl, then follow her to the torture chamber.
  • 24 of 24: After Syl executes Muurine, she'll give you a special bow called Ruin's Edge.
