Uru: Ages Beyond Myst Hints
How do I get out of the control room on the second floor?
of 17: If you don't know where the control room, though, is, the following hints may help you.
of 17: You should have noticed that this fortress seems to be powered by some kind of gear system.
of 17: And you may notice one of the gears that's part of that system in the control room itself.
of 17: But the gear in this room isn't connected to the main gears -- your goal here is to make that connection.
of 17: You'll need to create some kind of temporary power source to operate the controls in his room.
of 17: As you're facing the rotating wall, turn to your right, and you'll see some kind of cylinder with a platform in front of it against the wall.
of 17: When you stand on the platform, it will start to rise. And when you walk off of the platform, it will begin to fall again.
of 17: The falling of that cylinder is what provides the temporary power in this control room.
of 17: So the first thing you need to do is to stand on that platform until the cylinder has risen as far as it can. The temporary power will run out as soon as the cylinder falls back to the floor -- about 15 seconds if you let it fall all the way from the top.
of 17: You may have noticed the control panel with some symbols and buttons along one of the walls, opposite the opening to the rotating wall.
of 17: The leftmost symbol on the wall looks like it's showing you some kind of power switches.
of 17: So press that one and see what you can do next. (You may need to "recharge" the cylinder again by standing on the platform again before the cylinder has fallen completely.)
of 17: You still need to connect the gear to the rotating wall, and none of the other buttons on the control panel will work yet.
of 17: Take another look at the gear.
of 17: There are two pedals on the floor along the edge of the gear (on the side closer to the center of the room).
of 17: Press both of them, and they will move briefly. Something must have happened when you did that.
of 17: Go back to the control panel and press the second button from the left. This will activate the doors so that you can leave this room -- and open many of the other doors in this complex. The gears will also keep the power running now, so you don't need to worry about the cylinder any more.
