Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening Hints

Unravel the mystery behind the sapient darkspawn.

  • 1 of 8: Talk to Captain Garevel, Seneschal Varel, and Mistress Woolsey in the throne room to get this game part's three main plot quests (other than this one, which acts as an "overall guideline" quest for the rest of the game).
  • 2 of 8: Before you get started on them, you should take the time to look around in all the currently available areas for optional quests and loot.
  • 3 of 8: You may be able to get a few random encounters by traveling around on the world map a lot, but they seem to be very scarce early in the game. Watch for them to happen a bit more frequently after you complete some of the three main plot quests.
  • 4 of 8: After you finish everything else you can, it'll be time to start on the three main plot quests. As with the four treaty quests in the main Dragon Age: Origins game, you can do them in any order. (Note that I list them in alphabetical order, not a suggested order.)
  • 5 of 8: Also as with the main game's treaty quests, you're not committed to finishing one as soon as you start it.
  • 6 of 8: Go as far as you can on all three main plot quests before you start finishing them. That way, you'll be better prepared for each quest's super-tough end-quest combats.
  • 7 of 8: Return to the keep after each main plot quest you finish to see what all new things are happening there. You'll always find some new things to do, including an occasional minor (but required) keep quest. Also, try getting more random encounters by traveling around on the world map a lot.
  • 8 of 8: After you finish all three main plot quests, you'll get the "Speak to Varel" objective.
