Fallout: New Vegas Hints
Is there a way to sneak a powerful silenced weapon into the Fort?
of 9: Not exactly, but you can bring in a silencer and then steal the weapon to put it on from a Legion soldier.
of 9: The weapon in question is a 12.7mm submachine gun, so get a silencer for it (see the Silenced Gun Tips), a few weapon repair kits, and some 12.7mm ammo before traveling to the Fort. None of that will be confiscated when you arrive.
of 9: Enter the main Fort structure, then find a "veteran decanus" guy and pickpocket his 12.7mm submachine gun. (Note that leaving the main Fort structure will cause his ammo to respawn, so enter Caesar's tent for the "leave the area" part of the process.)
of 9: Once you have the submachine gun, attach the silencer and fix it up with weapon repair kits, then use it with V.A.T.S. to sneakily one-shot kill generic Legion guys and dogs without getting into trouble. (As usual, don't kill off anyone with a unique name in order to avoid quest complications.)
of 9: GLITCH TIP: If you exit the main Fort area using its big drawbridge and then reenter, you may find that the inventories of the Legion soldiers you've sneak-killed have respawned. That'll allow you to loot them over and over for infinite stuff! (At least until this glitch is fixed.)
of 9: After you're through doing that, you may want to leave that submachine gun at the Fort for future sneak-killing. If so, put it in one of the many footlockers in the tents before leaving. That way, you can get it back and use it some more when you return.
of 9: Or better yet, use it to sneakily kill the main gate guard so he can't confiscate your weapons anymore. It can be tricky getting into position near him without being seen, so you'll need a fairly high Sneak skill (or a Stealth Boy), and you may have to sneak-kill some of the other nearby Legion guys first.
of 9: If you manage to do it, you'll be able to bring any weapons you want into the Fort on future visits. Silenced sniper rifles loaded with armor-piercing rounds are particularly useful for stealthy long-distance take-downs, and ballistic fists are great for sneaky close-range kills.
of 9: Next, enter the Weather Monitoring Station that's at the west end of the main Fort structure and sneakily kill the weather station guard to put an end to the Fort's weapon confiscations forever. (Note that you may need to push the guard over toward the SE corner of the area and then crouch in it to get a good sneaky shot at him.)
