Section 3: Ground Turrets and Generators (d3_c17_10b)

  • 1 of 16: Open the double doors on the left, then check the side room for grenades and other ammo before you go down to where all the blue laser alarms are.
  • 2 of 16: Barney will explain that you need to take out the ground turret just past the blue lasers before he can use the console that the turret is guarding.
  • 3 of 16: This first turret is very easy. Just activate it and then roll a grenade into it while standing to the side of it.
  • 4 of 16: After Barney opens the door, move into the large rotunda room and look around.
  • 5 of 16: Head over to the other side of the rotunda to find a force-field-blocked corridor marked with EXIT signs, plus a side hallway guarded by two ground turrets (one of which is out of sight over to the right).
  • 6 of 16: As you cross the rotunda the first time, you'll hear the very loud sound of a dropship flying right overhead. That means soldiers are going to be coming down the EXIT corridor soon, so deal with them right away.
  • 7 of 16: When you're ready to go down the turret-guarded side hallway, you can use one of two different strategies.
  • 8 of 16: Find the stairwell past the turret area and climb up to another floor, where you'll have two more ground turrets to deal with.
  • 9 of 16: After those turrets are toast, find the side room that's just across from the stairwell exit and raid it for supplies while Barney frees some resistance members from a Combine holding cell.
  • 10 of 16: You're on the floor with the three power generators that you need to take out in order to deactivate that horrid suppression gun. You can do the generators in any order, but I'll list them in the order I always prefer.
  • 11 of 16: After all three generators are offline, Barney will try to lead you directly back to the rotunda room, where a bunch of Combine soldiers await you near the EXIT corridor.
  • 12 of 16: After all the soldiers are dead, turn on your flashlight and go down the dark EXIT corridor slowly, resetting hopper mines as you go.
  • 13 of 16: In the room at the other end, Barney will station himself next to a computer console and open a nearby Combine door that leads to some stairs.
  • 14 of 16: Before you go through that door, go back to the EXIT corridor and raid it for supplies and recharge on its wall stations. Then optionally go back through all the previous rooms that you can access and get stuff from them, too.
  • 15 of 16: After you go through the door Barney opens, you'll find a rocket launcher on the ground (remember it for later if you don't need it now), then some stairs that are guarded by a sentry gun and two soldiers.
  • 16 of 16: When you get near the top of the stairs, the door near the bottom of the stairs will close and Section 4: Rooftop and Skybridge will load.
