Breaking the Siege of Kvatch

  • 1 of 15: Talk to Savlian Matius at the barricade south of the city about "Help" to get this quest. (NOTE: You can do this before entering the city and talking to Martin.)
  • 2 of 15: The first thing you need to do is approach the huge Oblivion gate near the city gates and use it to travel to a Plane of Oblivion.
  • 3 of 15: NOTE: Since this is your very first Oblivion world, now would be a really good time to read through the General Oblivion Tips. Some of those tips are repeated in context in the hints below, but many aren't.
  • 4 of 15: A short way ahead of you and to the left is Ilend Vonius, one of the surviving guards sent in by Matius.
  • 5 of 15: You can either help him fight off the Daedra who are attacking him, or wait and let him get killed so you can loot him. (If you save him, you can send him back to Matius or have him come along with you.)
  • 6 of 15: You can't open the huge gates on the main bridge that leads north, so go west of the bridge to find a path that'll get you to the north end of the island you're on.
  • 7 of 15: When you make it to the north part of the island (note the spiky traps strewn about), you'll find various charmingly named Daedric towers, such as "Blood Feast" and "Meat Harbor."
  • 8 of 15: Also, you can optionally find a path that leads south to a tower named Blood Well, or head NE to find a secret tower.
  • 9 of 15: When you're ready to go about closing the Oblivion gate, enter Blood Feast through its large front door.
  • 10 of 15: Soon after you take the sigil stone, you'll be teleported back to Kvatch, and can report success to Matius.
  • 11 of 15: When he asks you to accompany him in the assault on the Daedra remaining in the city, you can delay him so that you can go rest and heal, level up, sell stuff, whatever.
  • 12 of 15: When you're ready, tell him so and then follow him and his troops into the city.
  • 13 of 15: You'll need to help the soldiers kill off several leveled Daedra, including a dremora mage.
  • 14 of 15: After you do, talk to Matius again and then follow him into the chapel.
  • 15 of 15: After he's done talking to Tierra, talk to him to finally finish this quest and get an optional one that you can do now, later, or never.
