Chamber 18 with Least Portals

  • 1 of 15: You can get through this chamber with as few as 14 portals.
  • 2 of 15: When you come to the big toxic gap in the large hallway, you'll want to place your portals carefully so you can cross the gap and go up the nearby ledges using the least number of portals.
  • 3 of 15: In the room past the button ledge, use the button post to extend the nearby extendable wall section so you can enter the room beyond.
  • 4 of 15: As the wall section is extending, crouch-walk under its metal pole so you can enter the room on the left side.
  • 5 of 15: You'll now need to quickly fling yourself over to the storage cube room before the wall section can un-extend.
  • 6 of 15: As soon as you arrive in the cube room, get behind the cube and pick it up, then crouch-walk your way to the center of the room's back wall while facing forward. This is to keep the turrets from killing you.
  • 7 of 15: When you get to the center of the back wall, you should be safe, so wait there until all of the turrets stop looking for you.
  • 8 of 15: With the cube in hand, walk quickly to the room's edge, then move forward until you start falling.
  • 9 of 15: As soon as you do, lean on the "Move backward" key so you'll land in the button room instead of the toxic waste below.
  • 10 of 15: Stand in a spot to the left of the button post and a bit back from it to get the turrets to stop looking for you.
  • 11 of 15: Now you need to get your new cube out to the big door-opening button.
  • 12 of 15: After putting the cube on the big button, drop down to the ledge with the blue portal on it, being careful not to enter the portal yet.
  • 13 of 15: Drop gently into the blue portal, then lean on the "Move backward" key as before to make sure you land on the door's ledge.
  • 14 of 15: Go through the door to reach the final area, in which there are no portal shortcuts. See below for a reminder on how to get through it.
  • 15 of 15: After you portal-fling your way to the exit corridor, enter the elevator to finish the chamber with a score of 14.
