Fallout 3 Hints
What other cheap little items should I hoard for special uses or sales?
of 11: There are three different people who will give you more for scrap metal than ordinary merchants will.
of 11: Blood packs look pretty worthless at first, but they'll be worth a lot more after you finish the "Blood Ties" misc. quest. You can then sell them for 15 caps each or use them to heal yourself by 20 HP each.
of 11: Regular Nuka-Colas aren't very special as is, but you can turn them into ice-cold Nuka-Colas by getting a house (see question below) and buying the Nuka-Cola vending machine for it. Also, you can trade Nuka-Colas to the kid named Zip in Little Lamplight (location 11 on the Zone 4 Map) once a day for a random item, usually ammo. (Note that your Barter skill determines how good the random items can be.) If you have the Broken Steel add-on, you can get a level-up perk that'll let you convert every 10 Nuka-Colas you get into a Nuka-Cola Quantum.
of 11: Flour and vodka can be used to make a special kind of pie after you finish the misc. quest "The Nuka-Cola Challenge." Note that flour is especially hard to come by, so be sure to keep all of it you find for pie-making.
of 11: Strange meat isn't very useful as a food item, but it can be traded for a better food item after you do the undocumented quest "The Cave Fungus Trade."
of 11: Boxes of sugar bombs are another type of not-so-useful food item that you can trade for something better. See the "Making Ultrajet" undocumented quest.
of 11: Mole rat meat is yet another weak food item, but it can be made into a much better one on the "Making Wonder Meat" undocumented quest.
of 11: Brotherhood of Steel holotags, which can be found on dead Brotherhood members in various places, can be turned in to a certain scribe after you gain access to the Citadel during the Main Quest series.
of 11: The undamaged books called "pre-war books" can be sold to another Brotherhood scribe for 100 caps each and some XP on the undocumented quest "The Book Collector."
of 11: If you have The Pitt add-on game installed, you can trade teddy bears for caps and XP after you finish its quest series.
of 11: If you have the Broken Steel add-on, you can trade cameras to Scribe Rothchild after the quests are over for caps and XP. (He also takes sensor modules, so save those up for him if you're not saving them for making bottlecap mines.)
