Half-Life 2: Episode One Hints
Section 2: An Antlion Guard and Much More! (ep1_c17_02)
of 13: Bust open the two nearby supply crates to get, among other things, your first SMG grenade.
of 13: Move on into the next room to find that it's a major supply area, with health and armor rechargers, pulse rifles and SMGs on gun racks, frag grenades on a counter, and more stuff on a shelf near the entry door.
of 13: Unfortunately, it's an ambush. Soldiers are going to blow open the two Combine-locked doors on the other side of the room.
of 13: Be sure to save your game before dropping down, since the area beyond contains an antlion guard and two antlion spawning pits, plus several soldiers and an APC. Fortunately, the old "moving back up" and "run for the corner" strategies that worked against some of the main game's antlion guards will work here, too.
of 13: After the antlion guard dies and the two spawn-holes are plugged, some scanners and soldiers will appear at the Combine barricade that's just past the two spawn-holes. (You may have to approach the barricade to get them to appear.)
of 13: Search the entire street area for supplies, especially your stash near the drop-off. Also, you can use surviving boxes, barrels, etc. to build a way to get back up to the drop-off point (or use your original stack if it's still intact) so you can pick up any leftover ammo and visit the supply room's rechargers again.
of 13: When you're ready, go through the barricade and find the hole in the wall down in the rubble rut. (You'll have to crouch to get through it.)
of 13: Move around in the room past the hole cautiously, since there's a hopper mine hidden behind explosive barrels. If it goes off, the entire place blows up.
of 13: After locating and resetting the hopper, look around to find that you're faced with yet another power-lock door.
